Baldons Events Committee

 

What is BEC?

The Baldons Events Committee has been in existence since 2006. BEC's purpose is to:

  • Organise local events for the villagers of the Baldons and Nuneham Courtenay
  • Raise funds for local “good causes”

 

Who are BEC?

The current Committee members are:

  • John Maskell (Treasurer)
  • Alison Porter  (Secretary)
  • Robin Timms
  • Emma Torevell

The committee depends upon a host of volunteers to help with each event. If you would like to offer your help for any of our events please contact one of us.

What events have BEC organised?

Events have included:

  • Annual Lunch on the Green
  • Queen’s Birthday Tea Party on the Green (2016)
  • Fun on the Green (2017)
  • Queen’s Diamond Jubilee event on the Green in 2012 (supplying and erecting marquees & equipment)
  • Car Treasure Hunt
  • Beer tent at the annual Baldons Feast
  • Themed black tie Balls – most recent was The Hollywood Ball in 2011
  • Annual Bonfire & Fireworks display
  • Annual village Christmas tree
  • Safari Suppers – most recent was in 2017
  • Barn dances – most recent was in 2015

What have BEC funds supported?

The majority of BEC’s income is spent on each event, and on purchase of items to support events - such as marquees, tables, cutlery, equipment storage facilities.  To date, surplus BEC funds have contributed to:

  • Outdoor play equipment / furniture for the Toddler Group
  • Christmas lunches for the Village Seniors
  • Sound system for the Youth Club
  • Costumes for the Junior Baldon Players
  • Nuneham Luncheon Club
  • Toilets for Nuneham Village Hall
  • Stage lighting for Nuneham Hall / Baldon Players
  • Boundary fencing for the extension to St Lawrence Church graveyard
  • The Baldons Garden Group
  • The village Christmas tree, lights and children's goody bags
  • Servicing the bells at St Peter’s Church
  • Hearing loop for St Lawrence Church
  • Sevicing the village handbells
  • Donation to BNCS
  • Village Hall portable stage
  • Donation to Day Centre
